Why do we bother arguing about God's existence on here?

I am a Catholic but I'm well aware nothing I type will convert an atheist, (not that i want to, I have no right to try it) just as nothing they type will shake my belief in God. We all just go around in circles on here, but does anyone actually know why? I was just wondering that's all.

Atheists are lost. They know this and can't be quiet about it. They want to hear about God anyway they can. Their soul is trying to call out, but the person is stubborn. They don't understand why those believe have such a better life force about them then they do. They argue that we can't prove God to them, and that our proof is nothing, yet they still come back. We have God in our lives and its better for it, though they think they may have better lives, they know they do not. Thus the struggle.

Personally, I'm Christian, and the bible says not to have contention which =arguing,
so I stay out of that...as much as I can, and I do pray about any 'argument' that
I get into at all. It needs to have some value for me to feel right about getting into one.
Some people argue for all the reasons listed by others here. I might counter
something because I don't want to see God maligned, or because I think
the person could be searching and needs to see their viewpoint differently.
Have you EVER had someone argue you out of your own viewpoint in other
areas? I have had this done and seen I didn't hold the better view. I dropped
my view....on other things, not God. So some people WILL make changes
as they read 'arguments' IF the person is looking for something like that.

The conflict of ideas promotes deeper understanding on both sides even if it doesn't (and almost always doesn't) lead to conversions.

Because Y!A is run by what people think. That's just how it is. It's all about opinion and everybody has one. So if you're religious, you express it, if you're not, likewise. The same with anything else.

For most people, it is because they enjoy argueing. This is a safe place to argue because nobody knows them and nothing is at stake.

I dont try to argue. I try to tell people to allow people to beleive what they want but no one listens.
