today I went into Sainsburys supermarket in the hope of buying the new Harry Potter DVD for my cousin's birthday tomorrow (she's 13).

I went happily up to the cashier who scanned it through, and then looked up and me and said 'do you have any ID?'.

I am 16 years old, and have been able to pass for 18 without I.D before, the movie is rated 12, yet I was still not allowed to buy it, despite being LEGALLY allowed to buy it. She said it was because they aren't allowed to sell DVDs to under 25.

just to mention that this is a Sainsburys in the heart of a student based neighbourhood, so many of its customers will be under 25. what kind of a policy is this?
