...Rogers testify to Congress? about Salahis gatecrashing the state dinner? Are they (White House) trying to hide and cover up a mistake made by one of their own and put the entire blame on the Secret Service or is there another reason?

Since she was instrumental in raising so much money for the obama campaign, they may be trying to figure out another way to sort this out without throwing her under the proverbial bus. It's inevitable though. She'll go under the bus if need be. The Secret Service may take a bullet for the president, but they won't lie down for this crap.

"The Secret Service has acknowledged that the Salahis got into the Nov. 24 dinner because its security procedures at a checkpoint were not followed. Rogers has said that no one from her office was at the checkpoint to help identify guests." (from your article)

In all likelihood someone from her office should have been at the checkpoint and from what I have just heard on the news, will be from now on. Why in the world is anyone having to testify in front of Congress for this? Don't we have a million other more important things right now, and the White House can handle this as an internal matter.

It is their privilege. White House has a Constitutional right to do it. It was not a subpoena, but an invitation. Salahis also have that right. They are not required to show up, just like they were not required to agree to be interviewed by the Secret Service. It was a huge mistake on their part that they did, because now they can be charged with a crime of lying to them. Even if it is a perceived lie. It carries a mandatory prison sentence.
