Why does 4G Samsung Galaxy S3 use so much data? Mine uses around 3mb per minute?

Is this right?? Its really annoying me because i'm not rich i'm a broke student lol and i decided to shell out on the new s3 and i pay £41 a month which is alot of money for me so that i could use my phone without restrictions.

When i bought the phone i was told that 1gb was classed as 'unlimited' the women told me it was loads and that i would probably never use it up. I've been researching and it seems like she was telling the truth as people are saying as long as you stay away from youtube browsing which is what i mostly do will use up 20mb an hour.

If that's true then how come i'm using 3mb a minute by just going to yahoo answers and google on my phone? I actually browsed for a full minute just on google and yahoo and my data usage went up by 3mb? WTFFFFFF, That means i could virtually burn my whole 1GB allowance in like 5 hours of browsing!!!!!!!!!! WHAT THE HELL, can someone help me out here!

It shouldn't use any more data. It's just downloading the same webpage but faster.

They claim you will use more data on 4G because it loads quicker, and because it loads quicker, you're more likely to use the net more on your phone because you're not waiting for videos to load and stuff. But it shouldn't use up any extra data compared to if you are using the same amount of browsing on a 3G signal.

I'm guessing you're on EE? Ring them up, or take your phone back to the store you got it from.

£41 is a lot for a phone contract. You should have waited until next year when other networks bring out 4G. When they do, there will be competition, so the prices will be cheaper. I'm guessing you're now stuck with the £41 for 2 years - it won't get any cheaper. You've now signed the contract. You only get a 14-day cooling off (returns) period if you bought it online or over the phone.

It would have been cheaper for you to join the Three network. Their network has 3G+ so it's faster download speeds than 3G, but not quite as fast as 4G. Probably about 21Mbps I think.

1. Check the Browser agent setting (it might be rendering a desktop page view). Preferably use Dolphin HD, free more powerful, more control.
2. Install some free app to track application vise data usage. (search for data manager in Google play store). Based on that block/ restrict access to them.
3. Check if auto-update is switched on for apps in Play Store.
4. Switch off Auto-Sync to reduce the data usage in Sync Settings.
5. 1GB is definitely enough for a phone running on 2G, not 4G, even if are using for mail check.
