face the facts
Nowadays the definition of music extends to a of black men violently rhyming in time to "hip" beats and instrumentals- usually about alleged crimes, degrading women, cars, money, and the how society is keeping them down. People like lil wayne shouldn't be getting rich off of rapping about how many toilets they own. The man used the brutal beating of Rodney king as a metaphor for having sex with a female police officer.
Furthermore, the definition of rock now extends to a bunch of geeky white morons screeching their vocal cords to dust against the din and dissonance caused by unskilled musicians trying to pass off as "Hardcore rockers"
Why does every genre of music have to be turned into a style of life? "emo scene" "hardcore scene" "gangster" "indie, scarf wearing homo-blam!-" etc etc
What happened to music that went deeper than the common themes of today's rap and rock music... like lust, and getting dumped by your girlfriend, kissing a girl with cherry chap stick and liking it, smelling like teen spirit, committing suicide, committing homicide, devil worship, or not letting the man get you down etc. Try listening to a song by Bruce Springsteen, bob Dylan, or Neil young. You can visualize the lyrics. What happened to protest music? What happened to music that lacked the perverted nature of the garbage available on itunes today?
What happened to bands like:
-bob dylan
-bruce springsteen
-neil young
-the doors
-the animals
-the clash-
-the who
-tom petty
-paul simon
-creedence clearwater revival
There are a ton of 70s and 80s bands that I don't feel like listing... Music seems to get more generic as time passes. Even the "indie" music that all sounds the same. Hell, even the one hit wonders beat anything the musicians of today are spewing. Stop handing your money, and your parents money to lil wayne and notorious F.A.T. Seriously people, they should be flipping your burgers.
