Why does everyone complain about the map size in Battlefield 3?

I have the game, and 32v32 fills up the map, you won't be ANYWHERE without a big fight going on. Everywhere there is atleast 5 people total, so how are the maps too big?
 
I often hear people complain about this on console where you can walk on the border of the map for the whole game and probably never die, however for PC I dont know why anybody would say that considering that it's 32vs32.
