Why does Judaism require male genital mutilation?

I'm aware that it's not just Jews and Muslims that do this but why is it required? Also should their be laws against this to protect boys from Jews? They shouldn't get to amputate body parts and hurt infants because it is part of their false religion?
by this I'm referring to circumcision
also if boys have to have this done, then why not girls as well?
by protecting boys from Jews I meant protecting their own kids.
 
Well some people just circumcised themselves because they thin it decreases the chance of an std

You're clearly deluded. It's only a mitzvah for Jews, so there's no threat of Jews running around circumcising people.

Frankly, if you think it's mutilation, then don't do it to your children. But because it doesn't affect boys adversely, you've got no right to interfere with others doing it to their sons.

And female circumcision isn't anything like male circumcision. It really is mutilation, which deprives women of their ability to feel sexual sensations.
 
I'm not Jewish or any other religion. I've been circumcised but the doctor did not mutilate anything, he actually made my johnson more appealing and much healthier. It was done when I was 1 or 2 days old so I can't tell you if it was painful or not.
 
What are you talking about? You are mutilating the English language:)
 
Your opinion doesn't make their religion false. And you're overreacting. Before the modern emphasis on good hygiene and bathing regularly, the incidence of cancer of the penis---yes, there is such a thing---was lower in circumcised males. Does it still sound like mutilation to you?

Why not girls as well? Uh, in case you haven't noticed, girls aren't built like boys.
 
I'm glad I had it done, I'd rather not have to clean under the foreskin...that sounds awful.

Circumcision is done by almost every civilized medical facility in the Western world today.
 
Is mutilation of a small part of your body any more heinous than mutilation of the mind by all religions?
 
what would they take from a girl? Why are you so concerned with it, anyone that I have ever known that had this done, was happy to have had it done.
