we had a rescue puppy, we have had her for 2 months. she is well fed if not spoilt, but everytime i change my 2 yr old daughter's pooey nappie, the dog tries to eat it. if i'm not quick enough she actually does eat it. she has tinned and dry food as well as bits of food my daughter sneaks her and also treats so why is she eating poo?

Most dogs do that. It is their way of learning about other dogs or humans in your case. And plus most dogs just like the taste of it. I know that it sounds disgusting but it is perfectly natural.

dogs tend to eat poo, i think it may be a leftover survival tactic. You know, covering up the smell.

My suggestion would be to keep your dog out of the room while you are changing diapers, and make sure you throw the diapers away where the dog can't get to them.

Maybe she thinks it's tinned food. Dog's tinned food and poo look a bit similar. lol

Dogs are just gross sometimes. My old dog used to do the same thing with my sons diapers! One time we left the house and he actually got in the trash and ate the whole diaper, poop included! It was so gross. At the time I didn't even think about the absorbent gel inside the diapers so when he went to poop it looked like he was pooping out Styrofoam! Gross! Sometimes our dogs are just odd!
