Why does my 2yr old son scream when he's around his mom??

I am a stay at home dad with a 2 yr old son. I watch him all day and he is usually perfect for me. He doesn't act up or anything. The problem is, when my wife goes into work late she lets me sleep in and she watches him. Every time without fail he screams his head off the entire time she watches him. It can be 3-4 hours at a time of straight screaming. He acts like he can't stand her, but he also can't wait for her to get home at night. We have tried everything and we just don't know what to do. He has also gotten this way when we go out somewhere. Eating out is out of the question now and we have to grocery shop in under 15 mins. There is nothing you can do to stop the screaming. Please HELP!!
 
My son acts up more for me than for his dad simply because I'm soft. I can't stand to see little tears!! They break my heart! So, he gets away with more with me. I imagine there's a similar circumstance at play in your home. If your wife is away from your son alot, she may feel guilty and be giving in to him, reinforcing the screaming. Or, it may be that he needs more time with her. Perhaps you could work part time to allow her to scale back her hours. That way they could establish a better pattern of interaction.
