Why does my betta get bloated about once a week?

Every week my betta gets bloated, then i fast him for a day and the bloating is gone. About 4 or 5 days later he is bloated againn. I'm pretty sure i dont overfeed him only 4 pellets a day at most so I dont understand why this is happening to him each week.

sometimes it depends on the type of food.. i have 4 bettas (in separate bowls obviously) and i feed 3 out of the 4 pellets because when i fed them flakes they got bloated, and then the 4th one i feed flakes cuz thats all he will eat.. maybe try feeding him flakes for a day or two and see how he reacts... just make sure not to overfeed them
