Why does my Blu Ray not look as good as it does in the stores?

I just purchased a 50" Hitachi plasma 1080 (P50S601) and a Magnavox Blu-Ray player. I have it hooked up through a HDMI cable. I just watched Spiderman 3 on blu-ray and was disappointed with the quality of the picture.

It was a better pitcure than my old set-up which was a 42" Panasonic plasma 720 and a DVD player but didn't have the "WOW" factor that I see in the Best Buy's and Circuit City's.

Also, I don't know if I have the pitcure settings on the TV at the ideal setting. I was told to set (color, sharpness, etc..)in the middle and the contrast between 75-100.

I hear people saying the same thing ALL THE TIME. And I think I know exactly why this is. Especially at Best Buy (not sure about Circuit City), they have their Blu-ray displays setup with a Sony KDL-46XBR4 LCD. This lcd is one of the best tvs on the market with Sony's branded "motionflow" technology. This "motionflow" technology enables the TV to refresh at 120hz, which is double of a "normal" tv. When this option is enabled, the motion looks amazing, and Blu-rays look almost live. Incredible! But that creates a problem and a misrepresentation of Blu-ray. While you will still great MUCH better picture quality than DVD, unless your TV is 120hz set (and currently only LCD tvs support this, not Plasma) You won't get the "WOW" quality. Your tv is either 120hz, or 60hz. There's nothing you can do to alter or "upgrade" it. Sorry bud!
