I have a 2 year old kitty, Mitsie. She is a typical cat that lounges during the day, sleeping, grooming, eating, and using the box, then at night she gets more active, since cats are nocturnal. However I've noticed she seems to meow a lot when everyone is in bed. She sounds kinda sad, could this mean she's lonely out there?

My cats like to be in the middle of the action, or just where the people in the house are. If no one's doing anything or being up and about, I think they do get lonely. The lights are all off, no one's talking, that's the same thing I thought. Maybe if there's a night light or something like that, she'll feel a little better about everyone being asleep, or if you keep your door open so she can come in and still be with you.

Not lonely. That's just part of the nocturnal behavior. Meowing is a way to signal territory. Also, she may see other cats outside and be having conversations with them. My cats do that too. I'm convinced they're planning parties for when I'm gone. LOL.

Yep she wants you to come out again and play or give her attention! Cats are usually more active at night. get her a trat ball, should keep her occupied.

Definitely. She's up for the night and wants attention ; )

Its called caterwauling and is very common. Cat may be horny or just plain bored.
