why does my internet explorer randomly start up?

i use mozilla firefox and i have never had the problem before but when i start up firefox and i surf the web for a while internet explorer pops up over and over so my computer slows down so much cuz of all the diff tabs i turn off and btw internet explorer opened twice when i was typing this 0_0
 
There are three possible fixes for this:
1) go to start>programs>start up>make sure internet explorer is not in that folder. if it is delete it.
2) open firefox>tools>make firefox the default internet browser (im not sure exactly where it is in the tools as i use internet explorer/safari)
3) download windows defender from microsoft.com (if you are using Vista it is already installed). after installation open and go to tools>software explorer. if you see internet explorer in the list highlight and click remove
