Why does my wallpaper on my Motorola Backflip come up so large.?

Last week my friend sent me her old phone because my current one died. I went to put a picture as my wallpaper but that doesnt work to well. How can i get rid of that crop thing that always pops up when i go to put a picture as my wallpaper. Help me please.
