Why does Nokia use Symbian OS?

Symbian sucks. Don't tell me their working on a windows 7 phone, cuz I think its too late. They should have dumped Symbian long ago, and started used Android or something A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO. They would be champions of the phone market if they had used different OS. Why oh why did they use symbian?
@Goh, Nokia actually bought Symbian, didn't they? So they didn't really invent it, i guess. I'm sad to see that they could have been a really good company or something 2-3 years ago. Their hardware is probably the best, its just that their software sucks.

I'm an Android user too. And I don't like Symbian... even if they had Symbian^10, Symbian Anna, Symbian Adam or something else...
I've tried Nokia C7 but it lags.

But I realize that Nokia maybe doesn't really concentrate on Symbian. or I mean, smartphones. Their X1-00 makes me think that they want to make good feature phone.

Symbian is their invention. So they will work very hard to keep it on their phone.
