Why does only AOL work on my computer and internet explorer & other programs don't?

So here's my problem, one day internet explorer (and some other programs) works the next week it doesn't. It didn't used to bother me because I would just go on AOL. However, I just got a mac and when safari stops working for some reason only my sister's kid account on AOL works... Also, ichat, email and skype all work. The programs that won't connect are itunes, safari, and well pretty much everything else? Its not my mac its the main computer that is connected to the modem in my house that gives off the wireless connection. It might be because of some kind of AOL parental control program I may have installed a while ago ? I don't know. If you could please answer soon because I really need to get on the internet... Thanks. If you have any questions post them..
on my mac when signing onto aol the internet still doesnt work. but on my sister's laptop and on our main computer it does work so idk..

ITS AOL
i have aol i hate it
i had this problem with the dsl they gave me but now i have a router from them
but try signing in on aol and then using internet explorer that should fix it

sorry i shall add more information

the one click fixes have a few setting restorers and some of them are really usefull in these situations
try going through them untill it works if my other sollution did not work :)
good luck mate
youl need it
its aol lol 1 of the worst providers ever :P

if that dont work
if your using a netgear router they have supplied you
go to 192.168.0.1 and check that the ip is coming through if not set it up with ur aol username and password on the other hand if you cant get onto these settings then its ur ethernet or your phone/router sockets
also the default username is admin and password is password

through this
it could be your mac is not recognising the ip that aol has given the router try getting the latest aol 9.0vr i think and updating your mac system by downloading through your main comp
im sorry i hate apple althought i like the ipod but that i hate too pretty much most internet providers havnt really got to grips with apple
