why does Paul exclude 2 nations from Christ's covenant?

Paul excludes the children of Esau in Romans 9'9 - 15. he is Quoting Malachi 1'1 - 5.
Paul excludes the children of Ishmael in Galations 4'22 - 31. he is Quoting Genesis 21'9 - 13.

that is 2 nations in which he excludes from the new covenant, the Edomites, the 1st born son of Isaac and the Ishmaelites, the first born son of Abraham.

why?

he didn't exclude 2 nations from the covenant of christ

he was making a point

the descendants of israel were chosen by god

it went through issac son of abraham instead of ishmael
it went through issac instead of esau

paul's point was summarized in verse 16

KJV: Romans 9:16. So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.

to come to christ it is not the man who wills nor the man that runs after it but god that shews mercy

KJV: Ephesians Chapter 2

[8] For by grace (god's mercy) are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

[9] Not of works, lest any man should boast.

no man can obtain it by his own efforts or choices
