Why does Roger Goodell allow players (Giants DL Chris Canty) to wear that "grill"...
...facemask? http://www.pigskinbuzz.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/chris-canty-helmet.jpg
Look at that freaking thing. I think its cool.
But...
Ocho Cinco was fined for wearing ORANGE cleats when he was with the Bengals
Ronnie Brown was fined for wearing a visor with a sunburst tint on it.
Plax got fined for not having his jersey "properly tucked in"
Browns CB was fined 5k for wearing pants that exposed his knees.
Bart Scott was fined for not having his chin strapped at all times.
Ryan Clark was fined for writing "21" on his eye black in remembrance of Shawn Taylor
Green Bay Al Harris fined for wearing BLACK and YELLOW cleats
There's more... but you get it.
Goodell said this regarding the issue of uniform violations
“We do believe very firmly that there are rules in the N.F.L.,” Goodell said. “Whether it’s an on-field rule with the uniforms, we are a team game and we represent our teams and we should represent them in a professional and standard fashion.”
How is that facemask in anyway "standard"?
So if the chinstrap thing is a problem, because it is a matter of safety. Why has Goodell allowed players to wear this mask? Imagine how easily a players finger could get caught in there accidentally and snapped?
These guys can't celebrate a damn touchdown without getting flagged. That mask is unnecessary and potentially dangerous for opposing players.

What do you guys think? I would have no problem with it if Goodell didn't always have his panties in a wad about the littlest things.
@Tyrek ... I agree. But the lambeau leap was grandfathered in. So it's officially allowed by the NFL.
Well it's pretty obvious that the masks are legal.
I'm just saying.. they should not be. It's completely over the top and is actually 'distracting' to me as a fan. When Canty is on camera... I'm not thinking "Boy I love the NFL".... I'm thinking... what the hell that?
