Lincoln was a big tine racist and never planned on freeing the slaves. Yet, slavery was being phased out in the south.
Lincoln placed unjust taxes on the south, overstepped his bounds and then used slavery as an excuse to invade.
All the south wanted limited federal government, lower taxes and more civil liberties. I predict slavery would've ended around that tine on it's own.
Lincoln was even willing to allow slavery to continue to "save the union".
Lincoln said and I quote "if I could save the union without freeing a single slave I would".
Lincoln even wanted to deport Black Americans to Africa.
Here's where it gets interesting.
Black Union soldiers got less pay and were treated harshly.
Black Confederate soldiers received equal pay as whites and there were even inter grated units.

The border states in the union were allowed to keep their slaves.
And Lincoln had no juristiction over the south as they declared their independence.
It was until the constitution was ammended that slaver was finally abolished.
