Why does T-mobile's new plan/policy not require a contract BUT still require a

credit check? I am very confused as to why with T-mobile's new policy or plans or philosophy, whatever, they are not requiring contracts from customers and are offering monthly plans, yet they still want to perform credit checks? What's the purpose of needing people's credit report if they are on a monthly payment plan that doesn't require them to keep paying every month??
