I just want to express my reason to dislike anime. And I want to see what are your feelings/thoughts about this, and remember this is not just for anime lovers but also haters so I would appreciate any opinions on this.

I hate anime because its not realistic. I know its not suppose to be realistic but still some anime are just too far-fetched. I mean blue hair? Purple eyes? And its also very exaggerated. For example there are characters which are just 100% good and some characters 100% bad. And some of those good people are like really really 'cute' (they try to make them like that) i.e. the girls have blonde hair, really short skirts and dis-proportional limbs. There are also characters which think their 100% cool, and they're usually male, with their arms crossed all the time and they're so arrogant. And some anime are really lame, with really weird people and animals. Take shugo chara for example. They have this thing where in a club you have to wear that stupid vest. And then the leader is so arrogant and ignorant. For me, its really uncomfortable to watch anime. I don't hate people who like anime, because all people are different, and I respect those who do like it.

That was my view on anime. What do you guys think? Please don't write any hate stuff because this is a serious discussion. I'd really like to read your opinions. Thank you!
What I mean by 'unrealistic' is not the cartoons unrealistic, because cartoons have a totally different perception and meaning compared to anime. Anime is more deeper and for me, cartoons are much more easy to watch.
To Godspeed:

Watching anime is not the same reason to play video games or watch movies. People play video games mostly for fun and movies are different to anime.
Also to god speed:

I'm talking about totally different hair colour. It okay to have blonde to black to brown, but purple and blue? Thats just way far fetched.

it depends which viewpoint u look at it from because after u look past the blue hair and the purple eyes the thing that people crave for is the plotline and the fantasy bit, the things that dont happen in life and dramas

if i were u ill start watching dramas

hope i helped XD

Then don't watch anime. Simple as that. Everyone has their likes and dislikes; no one cares what you like or dislike.

what's with the percentages, 100% cool? Wow, you're very shallow and don't really get to know the character. Don't make assumptions, generalizations of anime. Anime comes in different forms.

i have to say that you definitely haven't watched enough anime to declare that you hate the whole form of entertainment.. if u hated whatever you were watching you should have dropped it and found something else. There are actually ALOT of different genres of anime and you just have to find the type you like.. for instance i like watching romance animes some times, but that doesn't mean just because ah my goddess is a romance anime im gonna force myself to watch it, infact i hate it .. its lame ( no offence to ah my goddess lovers) and to me its completely unrealistic.. but then this doesnt mean that i hate anime, i just hate THAT anime.. if you like something more realistic there are actually realistic animes of a genre called "slice of life" ..like "honey and clover".. i dont see anyone with purple eyes and 100% good and bad characters and crazy animals transforming..well there is a guy whos an absolute slacker and a genius but hey.. that might actually be realistic in japan..

I know what you mean.

I can't stand characters that are made so stereotypically "cute" and "ditsy" with the TOTALLY OVERDONE SCHOOL UNIFORM!!!

(hates school uniforms to no end)

In fact, there are many anime/manga I just can't stand.

BUT!!!!!!!

There are many I just can't get enough of. I think that the fantasy, combat, concepts, plots in MANY anime are just too awesome. The characters as well, I think it's awesome when characters with hilarious/unique personalities and totally funky/cool appearances show up in an anime/manga. But it can't be too stereotypical.

Like One Piece and Gintama, which are original with unique characters, that don't focus on pleasing pervy boys with their hands down their pants or awkward teenage girls with... well.... their hands down their pants.

All the anime I like are also hilarious to no end! And just as inspirational, with great soundtracks and animation techniques.

Like Air Gear, which has fabulous music and is extremely funny, as well as teaches you to never give up and practice for an ultimate goal.

Because something might be exaggerated or unrealistic, don't put it down. Find better reasons. Like the one about the stereotypical characters, which has a point and strong felt opinion.

hahah i can argue with a few of your points:

To hate anime because it is unrealistic means that you would also have to hate things like classic american cartoons. For example, talking animals is completely unrealistic, but the unrealisticity in anime is the general style of anime. It isn't meant to be realistic anyway.

And all the things you said about characters and stuff. Thats all generalized stereotypes from what anime you have seen. Seeing that you are not one to be familiar with many different animes, you aren't all that fit to make those statements.

And the too cute schoolgirls, disproportional bodies, cool guys, again..its the general style of anime.

"and some anime are really lame, with really weird people and animals"
^ what is that supposed to mean??

of course there will always be animes out there that suck, but its the same with art, music, books, movies ect. There will always be a variety of good bad and ugly with whatever genre of the arts.

And there are weird people and animals in the Harry Potter series. Are you saying that Harry potter is lame because it has weird people and animals in it?? woww

That's very true, I have always liked that it isn't very realistic. I am a cynic and I believe the worst of the human race that's why I really love things that are cute and sweet where things like honor and love matter, it helps me from getting too depressed about the real world. Hope I helped at all.

Basically your answers seems to be directed to all cartoons, even the looney tunes. Like how can a wolf that gets blasted by ACME rockets never die? And why does Bugs Bunny talk? Why can Superman Fly? Your questions can also be like this to get the same results. It's the same reason why you play video games, or go to the movies. Anime-watchers love to watch animes is because of the UNREALISTIC. But there are some who just watch the ones that look quite real. Answering you hair question, would u like to see everyone with black hair or brown? The color might not be real, but u can differentiate the difference between the charaters. Personality question, doesn't some people in your school or college have em? like those sorority girls who juz walk past by u in slow motion. Also, not everyone is perfect. Haven't you heard of clubs that you need to wear a jacket to enter? This kind of question will really get on people's nerves posting here.I , as an anime lover, will really like to avoid questions like these, but to enlighten you , i will post this here.

I simply state that from my views, I comply with the comlicated puzzles and understandings that most people fail to find in the cascading plotlines of anime, and simply.. not all animes follow the rules you have stated, some make a propable amount of since and are based keenly on strategic lessons, values, and climatic situations in hilarious instances and nonsense of what sort I can't help but laugh at. In general, however, most animes are likely, stupid while cleaner and crisp versions that are the only ones I can stand to watch hold things quite interesting and with cliffhangers, a design so in contrast with our daily values, and an eye that wishes life was a fantasy as such with its impossibilities and dreams achieved, but it is not.. so, try anime that has a fusion of style rather than the older-styled, sick-minded ones. Just look at Code Geass, Death Note, Vampire Knight, and other simple trageties that portray what life seems to be in quite troublesome.. sincerely, [email protected] - for contact
