How can they get away with this? Would I have the right to refuse to pay the extra VAT which is supposed to have been deducted. Surely this saving belongs to the consumer, not the trader? They profess to be using the extra VAT to offer stronger promotions, but they only benefit specific customers. I'm boycotting Homebase permanently.
It's been reported in today's papers and appears to be perfectly legal. I wonder what would happen if I refused to hand that portion over at the till?
STROPPY -Who said anything about "making a scene" or "getting noticed"??? I wondered what would happen. Plus, it's not my problem if the manager doesn't make the decisions. He/she is my contact with the company so they take the grief!
