student?!? My mom never lets me cook for her and when she does she "teases" me for cooking. Everyone but her loves my food and sometimes they ask me to cook for them. I wouldnt be going to culinary school if I didnt have a talent for it.

u r still her baby and she still wants to feed u as long as u live with her let her do the cooking it makes her feel like mom

You answered your own question when you said "Everyone but her loves my food"

Now - would you let someone cook for you, when you didn't like their cooking? Would you, as an aspiring food service industry worker, expect people to come to your restaurant even when they don't like your food?

Of course you would not.

Everyone has different tastes. You will run into people who may have tastes similar to yours and some who do not. Evidently -you and your mom do not share the same tastes.

And you did say you were a student, right? By definition, you are not proficient at a topic if you are still a student. That is why you still are in school, because you are still learning. And yes - I'm sure you think you know more than your mom and in some aspects that may be true - but you haven't learned it all yet.

You do not have cred yet. Saying you are a culinary student does not give you cred yet. When you have been cooking for 10+ years and are good at it, then you will have cred. You can't go around demanding respect from people under the guise that you know more about cooking than someone who has been doing it her whole life - when you are just a student.

It is a hard lesson to learn - but your mom went through the same thing when she was your age, so did most every other adult.
