...exciting but otherwise ignore it complet? I am 22 and was born in/have lived in small towns in Maryland, around DC, all of my life. So I know people that are not from this area would probably just think I have been in the city, seen so much, e.t.c. when believe me, as much as I wish I could I have in fact rarely had access to do any of these things. I have even wanted to go to the Independence Day celebration for as long as I can remember, but even being in Maryland I never could, when here it is people actually come from FAR AWAY states and are able to go to it! The fact is I am unable to drive because Maryland mandates driving class which I can't afford, and I can't afford/am not able to access metro.
Anyway, I have always noticed that people tend to brush Washington, DC off as a small city where it is not worth holding big events or celebrities coming like they do to New York or LA. they have NEVER had Wrestlemania here when they could easily have it at FedEx Field, and because DC is not a big enough city/area for them to consider having Wrestlemania here. Yet despite all this, when some event does happen and it is in DC, like this innaguration, then all of a sudden everyone wants to be here and wishes they lived near here so they could go and all the celebrities want to show up. When the rest of the time they would all but ignore DC and not be anywhere around. Take, for instance when the innaguration is over. Everyone will forget about DC and only think about NYC and LA once again, won't they? I am sorry, but I just find it offensive that I have lived in this area my whole life and never even been able to see the city just because I don't have access/money, yet celebrities and others can just show up and be treated like royalty any time they like, and then just leave and ignore DC the rest of the time. I feel like this is disrespectful to me. Does nyone else who is in a small town feel like this?
I would actually rather move to the outer banks region of NC if I could, because it is affordable housing but still with access to the ocean. But of course even at 22 I still can't do that because I am unable to drive, when my PARENTS should have helped me do this when I was 16!
And I can't find a bf, so I just have to live/ride places with my father.
