God wants us to put Him first in our minds because it helps us remain spiritually strong enough to obtain salvation.Popular false objects of worship such as the money idol and most especially the worship of country cause people to engage in immoral behavior such as greed or in the case of the latter; mass murder.

worshiping something that is manifest is never positive, it does nothing good or bad for you, but worshiping God alone will help you, unlike worshiping false idols. idols dont give you the peace and love God does.

The LORD God has totally condemned anyone who does so. That is one of the first commandments God has given us and we are told throughout the Bible Scriptures. So if you defy God you will understand that He condemns such action. There is no positive way to have idols and serve the LORD God.
