Why is my blueray streaming netflix choppy?

My blue ray player is new and streaming videos looks very choppy. There are tracers if the characters in the movies move too fast as well. It doesn't look horrible, but it is very annoying. Netflix on my computer looks great, but not so much on my tv now. I have the blueray hard wired into my modem. Any suggestions? We've tried messing with some of the settings to see if that is it and we just can't figure out what would be causing this.... help please..
 
Sounds like your doing everything correct. It could be your internet speed or modem. Try resetting the modem by unplugging it and then check your speed at this site. It has to be at least 2-3 mbps to operate. The higher the better.
