I get my internet connection thru Comcast (cable). I have a wired Linksys router between the cable modem and the computer. Even when I do not have any applications open, when I look at my internet connection "Status," my computer is constantly sending and receiving data packets. My internet gateway is constantly receiving data packets, the sent packets changes less frequently.
