Why is my DivX web player not working?

When I got to a web site to watch a video and it uses DivX web player and I click on it, it says download error check my internet connection. Please anyone help me DivX web player is the best quality web player and I want to use it please help. I've tried re-installing it but other then that I don't know what else to do please help.
 
You might need to update the application or the codec. You need to make sure the file is supported by DivX.

You need to install new updates, but make sure you uninstall the old version....
