It’s a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.2 V8. The check engine light had 3 codes, all for an O2 sensor. I bought the main one that’s on the back of the cat converter then unhooked the battery to clear out all the codes.
Started it up and the check engine light was off but it ran like crap, a lot worse then before. After about 10 minutes it ran normal, but the check engine light came back on. Just got it checked and it was only 1 code, that said running too lean, which was one of the original 3 codes.
They suggested it’s the other O2 sensor that is more towards the front. Could it be that, a bad fuel pump, needing a tune up, or a bad head gasket that could cause it to run lean? It also has a lot of white-ish exhaust coming out, especially when it’s cold if that helps any. I will say that a while back I ran 6 quarts of oil in it for a couple days when it is suppose to only take 5. But now it has only 5 like I should. Thanks!
