Im new to the dirt bike scene so i dont know how normal or abnormal it it. Basically i seem to be spitting out oil out of my tail pipe. Its a pretty good amount and gest on the right side of my bike. I think its running 40:1 Ive been reading forums, alot say its normal. Id rather not have to clean oil off my bike all the time, is there a way to resolve it? I do half trail riding and half straight dirt paths. Obviously i cant run the hell out of it when im riding in the woods. So i need ideas and tips. Like i said i am a newb so any help is needed! Its seems to run perfectly normal, my cousin seems to think the power band is acting weird too and thinks its capable of being faster.
*just on the right side...

Ben told you correct.

You did not say what year your RM is. If it is before a year with a power valve, run Bel Ray MC1 at 50:1.

If you do have a power valve, take it apart and clean it. Usually modes made after 1990 have power valves on the exhaust port. Also make sure your air filter is clean and oiled.

Pull your spark plug and look at it. It should be light brown in color. If it is black, you are running too rich and will need to either lean out your mixture or lean out your jetting.

I have ran and raced 2-strokes since 1973. I only saw a large build up of black oil in my exhaust when I did not run synthetics. We used to run "bean oil" back in the day and it was really dirty stuff. Then I switched to synthetics (Bel Ray, Klotz) and the problem went away.

You may need to replace your muffler packing if there is allot of oil draining out of your exhaust. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IreySgQCgBE

It is normal to have oil come out of your exhaust but if it is excessive and you are unable to ride fast Bel Ray H1-R 2 cycle oil works really well and doesn't gunk up your exhaust as much as other oil.
