Why is my Volvo Overheating?

Having driven my Volvo in extreme cold conditions - 7 ....it overheated and i topped up with antifreeze as not sure if it had any in??...the radiator pipe was frozen when inspecting....since the weather has warmed have beeb starting engine up and when running on tick over only the gauge shows red hot after about 15 mins....and lots of smoke..also engine management light is now on !!!...when i release top up cap the water rises but then water goes [where i dont know]...Any ideas will be great .....Many thanks

just take it to a garage and get it fixed

Probably an air lock in your cooling system. Drain water and fill up again.

sorry man the head gasket is blown

It sounds like your Head gasket has gone, but take it to a garage for a check, they shove a Gismo in the header tank to check. next time put anti freeze in.
