Why is there more african influenced music in the latin america than there

is in the United States? If you listen to latin music, especially from the carribean, You can hear african influences all over the place. And to clarify there are a lot of afro latinos in cuba, dr, and puerto rico. But in the US it you can't hear much of the african roots. Why is that??
