Why isn't my bluray player playing my blurays like the store?

Why isn't my bluray player playing my blurays like the store? For example, when I watched Ironman in bluray, it wasn't WOW! It was ok, like a regular dvd. Why can't I get that same quality picture that I paid for? Secondly, if I get a HDMI cable will that help too? BTW, I have the Sony AVCHD HDMI S350.
