Why isn't my nokia phone sending messages?

I have a nokia 6700 slide, and it isn't letting me send messages. Even when I have a great signal. When I first set it up it asked for a number, a service number I think.
 
You need to call your service provider from a different phone and have your cell phone available for troubleshooting. More than likely your message center number (some call it a service center number) has been changed or corrupted somehow
