why some classmates have to always make stupid comments/gossip,etc about the clothes

one wears ? is this the best thing a student can do in school, making rude comments,innuendos regarding whether one chooses "fashionable" clothing or not ?? I find it so damn stupid,and I thought we were in school in order to learn,not to parade all the fancy clothes....

am I wrong ?? what if I only wear a white blouse,a knee-length skirt,and some lace-up oxford shoes ??
