Why was i laughed at for my beliefs?

So i was talking to my friends a couple of days ago and the topic of religion came up
I obviously shared i followed the one true religion, pastafarianism, and they didn't believe me
Why was i laughed at for these obviously true beliefs?
What can i do to help my friends by touched by the all-mighty flying spaghetti monster's noodley appendages?
