Why won't Limewire and Bittorrent work on my Apple?

I used to be able to use these programs on my Apple iBook but now it won't start downloading. My girlfriend has a MacBook and she has the same problem. Is it something to do with the internet connection?
 
I have a new Toshiba and windows vista, and don't have a problem, loading mp3 track on to my creative zen from limewire.
Bottom line is i wouldn't touch an ipod or anything apple, all they want is to dictate the market and squeeze every penny out of you.
You could try going into settings and have a close look at what it says about downloading
