Why won't my lockscreen iPod controls work on my jailbroken iTouch 3G iOS 4.2.1?

I have a 3rd generation iPod Touch MC Model that is jailbroken with Redsn0w's 0.9.6 b4 beta software on iOS 4.2.1, and every time i hit the home button twice while at the lockscreen to access the iPod controls, it crashes, resprings, and then goes into safe mode, to which I then have to respring it AGAIN to get it back into normal mode. If I DON'T hit the home button twice at the lockscreen, OR if I do it after I enter the passcode to enter into the iPod (the multitasking iPod controls work), it works, but other than that, it's hopeless. If anyone knows how to fix this, 10 points and a TON of gratitude is sure to come your way.
