why wont my phone send anything to my computer via bluetooth?

i tried sending from phone to computer, from computer to phone but nothing works. i even tried my mom's and dad's phones. we all have verizon phones. and our computer has windows vista

both the computer and the phones recognize eachother, but they just wont send anything. i even tried small files and big files, pictures and music, but it says it failed.
