why would i want to save android apps on the sd card?

Uh, why? Maybe if I had a G1, which has barely any internal memory, but with my moto droid i've installed well over 130 apps... why would i want to save them to the sd card, will it make my phone faster? or not? is it just for those people with very little internal memory?
