When he is a free agent, other teams can clearly offer him more money and a chance to play. Phoenix could use a strong defensive SF with the ability to put up some points when needed. Also, Portland, Memphis, New Jersey, New Orleans, and San Antonio could also use a defensive SF.

This guy would be putting up like 16 Pts 7.5 Boards on other teams, while playing solid defense. He is getting paid 3.1 Million this year, so unless they let go of Odom, there is no way they can pay him 4 Years 38 Million or something similar, which is what he could get elsewhere. Not a diss to Kobe, the offense works, but until Ariza separates himself from the Kobe first LA offense there is no way he can reach his full potential.
And if you think of winning a championship as a reason, he could do that in San Antonio, Cleveland, New Orleans, Portland, and even Boston for more money.
The Lakers are no more poised than the Spurs, Cavs, Celtics, Hornets or even the Trailblazers to win championships over the next several years.

And Ariza is 23, almost 24, but thats besides the point.
And the Lakers are 22 Million over the cap, so I would love for somebody to explain where this money is coming from.
Ron Burgundy, how are the Spurs Hornets or Blazers lousy teams? Seriously.
