I have just acquired a unit for my new business and need the Internet. I do not wish to reconnect the telephone line with BT as it comes with a 5 year business line rental contract so my alternative is mobile broadband. Here's my problem;

I can receive Internet signal outside of the premises but not inside so I was thinking of running a 10 meter or so cable from my laptop to a waterproof box outside to house my mobile broadband dongle. Will this work and if so will it effect my Internet speed?

Any help or other suitable ideas greatly appreciated.

The maximum cable length for the USB 2.0 spec is 5 meters. Anything longer than that may well not work properly and may not work at all. You can daisy-chain up to 5 powered hubs and stretch up to 30 meters.
