will a 76 or older chevy luv need a smog here in Ca?
i want to buy one and swap a small block V8, any suggestion on what engine is easier to swap in? 383 or 350 and etc.
 
a 327 or 350 both work well i have friends with both in their trucks and took minimal modifications.
 
You'll have to call DMV and ask what year cars do not need smog.I know it used to be 1973 and older but that was a while ago.

The 350 would be easier since its a common engine but I don't know about the emissions. In NY if your car is over 25 years old than you don't have to worry about emissions.
