Will a cold air intake affect my SUV's off road abilities?

I'm looking to get my car a new air intake because the frotgot response is terrible and I was wondering if it would affect the of roading abilities. (water, snow, dirt, etc.)
I posted cold air intake but what. was looking at a ram air intake. i know that some of you guys say its a load of B.S. but my cars current air intake pipe is TINY. At least ill be getting more air.

The number one complaint from people who have installed aftermarket cold air intakes (instead of the cold air intake that comes on the vehicle) is lower fuel economy; the number two complaint is engine destruction from ingesting water and hydro-locking. Your SUV will be more vulnerable in water if you replace the factory intake.

if your going through rough stuff like rivers and deserts id steer clear they can suck up a lot of stuff or you can hydro lock your motor
