Will a Uniden AC adapter/charger Model AD-830 work for charging a Radio Shack

Pro-97 handheld scanner? The specs on the Uniden charger are as follows: Input:AC 120V 60Hz 6.5W. Output:DC 9V 400mA.
The specs on the Radio Shack Pro-97 charger are as follows: Input(?) Output:DC 9V 300mA.
Would the differences in milliamp be a concern? Also, how can I tell what the polarity is on the Uniden charger? Thank you so much for any assistance you can give me!
 
I don't know what the polarity of the Uniden charger is, but I can tell you
that, in this case at least, the difference in the current will not matter,
so if the polarity (and the plug size) match, there should be no trouble.

Look at the "wall wart"; many show the polarity of the DC plug on their labels.
If it isn't shown, use a DC voltmeter to determine the polarity.

I don't know whether the Pro-97 is a Uniden-built or GRE- built scanner,
but I have a Pro-95, and I know for certain that it is a GRE product.
The asymmetrical shape of the display window is one of the easiest ways
to tell the difference; Radio Shack scanners made by Uniden have
symmetrical display windows, as do Uniden-branded products.
 
The 400mA is for operating, not charging. If you're running the device from this adapter the adapter might warm up until it burns out, or it might be okay. But for charging with the scanner off, it should work fine, just take a little longer to charge.

As for the polarity, if the plug that goes into the scanner is the same, the polarity should be the same. If the scanner charges, or a light goes on or whatever, then you're okay.
