Will a wiring harness for my CD deck solve this problem?

Well I paid someone to hook up a system for me last night. Unfortunatly the bass only comes on when the radio is on (and not when a CD is entered, as the amp turns off when you put in a CD) This is horrible for me, as I can't stand the radio. I only listen to CD's..so I looked on Google today to see what the problem was. I found out is was that he connected the blue wire from my amp to the power antenna wire on the CD player harness. Well, turns out some of these lose power, so that is why the CD won't play bass. So, I tried to find a solution as my CD player did not have a blue wire with a white stripe. Well I thought to go out and get a new harness for my cd deck that had a blue wire with a white stripe. I have that now. I know nothing about hooking these up but it seems common sense to me that if I replace this new harness with my old one, and re-wire everyhting exactly as it is now, except attach the blue wire from my amp to the blue/whitestripe wire. Will this work? And what wire do I hook up to the power antenna wire? or do I even need to hook that up since I wont be listening to the radio? Also do I need to ground anything or worry about getting shocked when I do this? I see they grounded the black wire already behind the cd deck, so I figure just untape the wires and match them up on my new harness as the person who hooked up my system did. I cant get a hold of them now so thats why Im asking here. Keep in mind the way it is now... Everything works fine except when the CD is in, there is no bass. Thanks in advance. If this works, this seems too easy as I was recommended by a "pro" to buy a new cd deck. Why would I need a new deck if I could just get this new harness? lol
