I've got my parents' cat maybe living with me for a week in Summer, but I'm not going to let him out as it's only for a week and because he's not been to this area of town before (I have nothing against outdoor cats, it's just not right in the situation I'll be in with him, it'll take him about a week to get used to the area, then he'll be off home!) and plus, there is a couple of busy roads where I live.
He's ten years old and doesn't play with toys (he hasn't displayed any interest since he was a kitten) and he will be alone most of the day, since I'm at work, and he'll be shut in my room. Will he miss the outdoors? The only window is blocked by a TV due to the layout of my room.
I'm not letting him near the front door at all. In fact, I'm not letting him out of the room unless me and my housemate are both in, purely because the hallway leads to stairs which leads to the front door- if one of us was leaving or coming back, he could very easily dart outside.
