will blu ray ever fully take over dvd?

i think they need to so it will stop video piracy and then the movie studios can start earning more money to make better and more movies
 
It will probably happen like the VHS to the DVD. But probably not for a couple of years.
 
Probably eventually. But, there's a couple of problems. First is that there aren't that many people with blu-ray players. So, not as many people can even play the discs. Second is that the 1080p resolution out of a blu-ray player is only noticeable if you have a full 1080p HDTV. Otherwise, you're wasting your money.

Also, by the time the economy rebounds and the population does buy this new equiment en masse, there may be a better technology available.
