We now laugh at the notion of Greek God, Roman Gods and also Norse Dieties.

Do you think in time with the advance of science explaining things that people in the bible or koran had to attribute to a divine being that religon will cease to exist.

I know that they have been around for thousands of year but its only in the last 100 years or indeed 10 years that technology has advanced so quickly.

There are still people out there that claim that the 2005 Tsunamis were a punishment from God for gays or something like that.

Do you find that odd, given that science explains underwater eathquakes??

Don't be stupid

When you don't see christians then your in the lap of hell.

Yes! The rapture would have gone, and your looking around for someone to help you.

We will know when the future gets here.
I think further research needs to be done when it comes to the validity of Abrahamic religions.
I am a Christian and I have been doing research in my spear time about the origins of my religion and the past is quite interesting.
I don't know if they will disappear, they can never really disappear because we will always have historical records of their existence.
And I don't laugh at the Greek pantheon or any of the Norse deities.
I find they are interesting parts of world history.
Also there are many people who still honor those deities and practice the pagan rituals.
Lastly science and religion don't confilict in my opinion.
The conflict comes from people who want one to overthrow the other.
Science can explain everything under the sun, but it didn't make it.
In fact many of the concepts science explains cannot be actually demonstrated or accurately re-created by humans.
Like evolution, not that it is a bad theory, I support it.
But I can't deny that I have personally never seen evolution in action.
Its like looking at a cake recipe and thinking that is how cake is made.
The recipe is the explanation and steps to how the cake is made, but the process happens through baking.
The same with science, it is the the explanation of how things came to be but isn't always the driving force.
It can usually explain things but more than likely it didn't put these occurrences into action.
As many of the occurrences happened well before scientific discovery.
I am not someone who just uses religion to explain how things came to be, or to believe in a "God of gaps."
It is a personal choice based on an individuals life experiences.
So as long as people feel a need for religion it will be around, no matter how much technology advances.

"Do you find that odd, given that science explains underwater eathquakes??"

No because that is what science is suppose to do, explain but not create necessarily.

Peace and Blessings = )

I know for a certainty Christianity will, at least for awhile. Judaism and the Islamic religions will, but not until Christianity comes back.

Look, there is nothing in this world that will last forever. I dare you to name one.

Back in Greek and Roman Gods, not everyone had access to literature. Now that most people read and write it may be impossible to get rid of those religions. Intelligence has nothing to do with it. The most intelligent people I know belong to one of those three or at least believe in a Supreme Being. I am an engineer, so that is the circle of where I move.

Religions, especially those three tend to accommodate themselves to the times. Only legitimate proof that God does not exist will convince those religions to dissipate. Right not there is no explanation for the existence of the Universe, thus people still believe in a Supreme being. I doubt that that will change in the next couple of thousand years. We may even go extinct before the Christians, the Jewish and the Muslims admit that there is no God.

no I dont find it odd, as they dont explain who caused the ocean floor to move and cause an earth quake

just for 42 months WHILE SATAN RULES TILL HE GETS HIS BUTT WHIPPED....for earthquakes you might want science....sicence agrees with RELIG THAT THE END IS COMING..

i think the jewsus lovers will be around for another 1000 years to annoy the bejewsus out of people.

I don't think so. It seems to me like religion is flowing, not ebbing.

I think it may be possible that, given time, most religion will eventually die out. There's really no NEED of it anymore, as science is doing the explaining and people are slowly developing the ability to do what is right/wrong without religious guides. It will never completely go away, however. Your example of greco-roman gods is good, because while most accept that the religions of ancient rome were false, some still follow them (a few, not many).

Probably not. It's likely they will wane, but unlikely they will become extinct unless a religion intentionally stamps them out.

One can only hope. But not "pray", of course! Nothing fails as reliably as prayer!

They're already slowly on the way out.

Another couple of centuries and they'll be a minority in most parts of the world.

Probably when human advance into higher civilization with no religion, or when religion still lingers and fall with the devastation of mankind.
