Will future employers understand if I take a job 'to get by'?

I want to go back into Human Resources, but there are NO jobs right now (as you probably know). I've been staying home with my son for the past 18 months and running a home daycare, but one of the parents got laid off and I have to find a job outside the house. Will it look bad on my resume to future employers if I take a job that's not in the HR field 'to get by' for now, along with the 18 month break from HR? I can't wait much longer.
 
If they ask about it explain the situation. I'm sure with the current job situation in the Us most companies will be more then a bit understanding about that.
